Sempervirens
Thur, Oct 18 - Sat, Oct 20
8pm
A dance by Buck Wanner (BkSD Artist-in-Residence)
Musical direction by Stephen Higa
Sempervirens is a dance and music collaboration. In this performance, we sing sacred music heard in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris around the year 1200, while we dance with a continuous sense of simultaneous inward and outward expansion.
The Latin word "sempervirens" is often translated as "everlasting." This dance works with that feeling. We are not "timeless." Rather we are rooted in particular times and places — Paris, ca. 1200; Brooklyn, ca. 2018 — though we rely on experimentation and imagination to find our bearings across time and place.
Performers:
Megan Chu, Lydia Mokdessi, and Buck Wanner dancing
Gideon Crevoshay, Stephen Higa, and Peter Sciscioli singing
Performance runs about 1-hour.
$20 ($15 Artist/Low Income)
