SELINI QUARTET

The Austrian Cultural Forum Washington (ACF DC) serves as a focal point to promote Austrian culture and art in the Washington DC metro area. By organizing a variety of cultural events (concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, theatre performances, lectures and panel discussions) throughout the year, we aim at encouraging cultural exchange between Austrian and American artists and its audiences.

The <a href="https://acfdc.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">ACF DC</a> proudly presents the <a href="https://www.seliniquartet.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a><a href="https://www.seliniquartet.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Selini Quartet</a>, a prize-winning group formed in Vienna in 2017, comprised of four young European musicians, Nadia Kalmykova, Ljuba Kalmykova, Loredana Apetrei and Marta Potulska. They have won several prizes in international music competitions and are featured currently in the New Austrian Sound of Music (NASOM).Their live classical string concert at the Embassy of Austria will feature works by Julius Bürger, Erwin Schulhoff and Franz Schubert. Bürger, the Austrian composer, pianist and conductor fled Austria for the U.S. after the Anschluss. His compositions first gained recognition when Bürger was almost ninety years old, as only then were his works finally performed publicly. The second part of the concert is dedicated to the famous Five Pieces for String Quartet by the Czech-born composer Erwin Schulhoff. The Selinis will end on a high note with a composition by Franz Schubert. Attendees may display proof of vaccine on a smartphone, by showing a physical copy of the vaccination card or official vaccination record, along with a photo-ID. “Full vaccination” means that either 14 days have passed since receiving the second dose of an FDA or WHO authorized double-dose vaccines or that 14 days have passed since receiving the sole dose of an FDA or WHO authorized single-dose vaccines. Attendees who are unvaccinated due to age or with a medical condition that prevents vaccination must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test conducted no more than 72 hours prior to attending an indoor performance, or proof of a professionally administered Antigen test conducted no more than 6 hours beforehand. Masks are required at all times for all guests regardless of vaccination status during the event inside the Embassy of Austria. ***********Parking on International Court is available after 6:30 pm (for the duration of the event), or on 36th Street (access to the Embassy through the park behind the building.)************Please note that photographs and footage will be taken throughouth the event. These might be used by ACF DC for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media, or in any third party publication.
