Self Defense Workshop

Learn practical self-defense techniques rooted in Aikido, led by Eric Manas (7th degree black belt).

When not working as a scientist or singing with the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus, Eric has been studying and teaching the traditional Japanese martial art of Aikido for 37 years. His school, Doshinkan Aikido -headquartered in Philadelphia- teaches a style similar to the one taught to the Tokyo Riot Police and has very practical application to real-life circumstances.

He will be assisted by other instructors from their dojo, including Fr. Kirk Berlenbach from St. Luke's. Eric has led similar and highly successful classes for the Philly LGBTQ+ community in the past.

Open to all, but advance registration is required. Space is limited!
Please wear loose-fitting/workout clothes, preferably that cover the knees and elbows.

A suggested donation of $20 is requested, but no one will be turned away for financial reasons. (All donations will go towards supporting operations and programming of William Way LGBT Community Center, The Church of Saint Luke and The Epiphany, and Doshinkan Aikido)
