Join Race Literacy Connections for this informative and empowering workshop.

Little Lights proudly invites you to participate in an interactive workshop designed to support your exploration of racial critical consciousness. Based on the work of Paulo Freire, "critical consciousness" is our ability to become aware of and critically examine social circumstances that cause inequity. Dr. Jun will apply a racial lens prompting us to consider how we detect and problematize race-based oppression and identify areas for growth in decolonization. To extend this exploration to application, participants will be given ample opportunity to reflect on their individual skill sets, resources, and tools to determine how they can be used in concert with others. This workshop seeks to provide a framework of personal and practical approaches to anti-racism work, through solidarity and in community.

Dr. Jun conducts research on equity and justice in higher education around the world. He is the author of several books, including: <ul><li>White Out: Understanding White Privilege and Dominance in the Modern Age</li><li>White Jesus: The Architecture of Racism in Religion and Education White Evolution: The Constant Struggle for Racial Consciousness</li><li>Global White Supremacy: Anti-Blackness and the University as Colonizer (will be released May 12th)</li></ul>He is currently Professor of Higher Education at Azusa Pacific University. He is a ruling elder at New Life Presbyterian Church in Fullerton, CA.
