Our work has saved thousands of lives and improved the lives of millions of others.Heart & Stroke is a leading funder of life-saving research, which has led to breakthroughs such as heart transplant surgery and a revolutionary stroke treatment that cuts the death rate by 50%.We empower Canadians to live healthier lives — from preventing and controlling high blood pressure to getting more physical activity. And we fight for change that will create better health for all, such as reducing salt in the food supply and improving access to stroke rehabilitation.Canadian Women's Heart Health AllianceThe Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance consists of over 55 members from across Canada. Our membership is comprised  of clinicians, scientists, allied health, and program managers, and 14 patient partners with various professional  and personal experiences in advocacy, education, knowledge translation, law, telecommunications, engineering, human resources,  and psychology.

<H2 CLASS="MsoNormal">Not researching the difference is proving fatal for women.</H2>
Join us this Wear Red Day for our See Red Talk on women's heart and brain health and the gap that is causing too many women to die. Heart disease and stroke are the #1 cause of death for women in Canada and yet 2/3 of all research focuses on men. We can't expect doctors to properly diagnose women's heart and brain symptoms until the research does.
The panel, moderated by award-winning TV journalist and publicist for many global brands, Renu Bakshi, will include:
Dr. Bernice Downey - Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at McMaster University, Indigenous Health Initiative Lead, School of Nursing at McMaster University, Associate Director of the McMaster Indigenous Research Institute, and Heart & Stroke Indigenous Early Career Women's Heart and Brain Health Chair.
Dr. Thalia Field - Associate Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia; Fellowship program director for the Vancouver Stroke Program
Dr. Tara Sedlak - Cardiologist, Vancouver General, St. Paul's, and UBC Hospitals; Clinical Assistant Professor University of British Columbia Director, Leslie Diamond Women's Heart Centre

Robyn Woodward - woman with lived experience
Together, Heart & Stroke and the Canadian Women's Heart Health Alliance are hosting this event to help raise awareness on how to close the research gap and empower women to take charge of their own health.
