Security in Web Applications

Born out of a desire that technology professionals in Technopark, Kerala, should not lag behind when it comes to the futuristic technologies, FAYA:80 was kick-started in June, 2013 and is organized on the first Wednesday of every month at the Floor of Madness, FAYA in Technopark, Trivandrum.FAYA:80 celebrated its 50th edition in July, 2017 with DISRUPT KERALA 2017, a day-long tech event, with a lineup of global speakers and visionaries. DISRUPT KERALA 2017 also saw the launch of two separate ongoing chapters of FAYA:80 in Kochi and Kozhikode, which are conducted on the second and third Wednesdays of the month respectively.

Money and other sensitive information change hands over web applications and these are seen as opportunities by hackers. A recent study revealed that more than half of all digital breaches are web applications-based. But review of security before and during production of applications is often neglected. 
The fact is, securing application environments presents a unique and consistent challenge to IT teams.

About Speaker
Mr. Rejah Rehim is currently a security architect with FAYA Innovations and is a long-time preacher of open source and has authored a book titled, Effective Python Penetration Testing. A steady contributor to the Mozilla Foundation, he has to his credit eight Mozilla add-ons, including the highly successful Clear Console add-on which was selected as one of the best Mozilla add-ons of 2013. With a user base of more than 44,000, it has registered more than 6,50,000 downloads till date. He has successfully created the world's first one-of-a-kind security testing browser bundle, PenQ. Rejah is also an active member of the OWASP and a chapter leader of OWASP Kerala. Besides being a part of the Cyber Security division of FAYA, Rejah is also a fan of process automation and has implemented it at FAYA.

FAYA:80 is a monthly technology hangout for technology enthusiasts by technology enthusiasts to break the ice, analyse and evaluate emerging trends in technology. Held on the first, second and third Wednesdays of the month at Trivandrum, Kochi and Kozhikode respectively, the series stands for Free Knowledge Sharing and aims to provide an open platform for entrepreneurs, developers and technology professionals to keep at par with the latest tools and technologies.
