Welcome to the Pikes Peak Tactical Private Security Certification Course! This will be a three-day, comprehensive course designed to provide the appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to be a successful Private Security Officer (PSO). This course meets licensing requirements for Colorado Springs, Denver and Pueblo Security Officers.
Students in the Unarmed Security Officer course will receive instruction covering Duties of a Security Officer, Ethical Considerations and Anti-Bias training, Interactions with Law Enforcement, Communication Principles, Use of Force Considerations, Colorado Revised Statutes.
The final day students will participate in the Duty Handgun 1 course, which covers topics including Firearm Safety, Safe Handling and Manipulation, Reloads and Malfunctions, Low-Light Considerations, and Ethical/Legal Considerations that apply with using firearms. Students will also conduct live fire training, culminating in a live-fire qualification with the firearm they will carry on duty.
An equipment list will be sent out prior to the commencement of class so students have time to obtain appropriate equipment. Student's wishing to participate in the Duty Handgun 1 course MUST have a level 2/3 mechanical auto-locking holster, and a firearm chambered in 9mm, .40S&W, or .45ACP capable of carrying at least 8+1 cartridges. Students who show up without these items will not be permitted to participate in training.
