At this special 2-hour event, there will be a Book Signing in our shop from 11-1 PM.

In Secrets of Romani Fortune-Telling, Paulina Stevens and Jezmina Von Thiel introduce the history of the Romani people and their infamous relationship to fortune-telling. They share divination methods, tools, and techniques that have been created, adapted, or popularized by the Roma, including card reading, palmistry, dream divination, and tea leaf and coffee reading.

About the Authors:

Jezmina Von Thiele (they/she) is of mixed heritage and reads tarot, palms, and tea leaves in their family’s Romani tradition. Jezmina offers readings in person at Deadwick’s Ethereal Emporium in Portsmouth, NH, and independently online and in person for events and private consultations. They are a writer, performer, and artist, and teach workshops specializing in divination, magical practice, writing, literature, and creativity. Jezmina also performs with The Poetry Brothel—Boston as a poet and mystic. Jezmina also writes a regular tarot column for Bustle and has an online vintage Etsy shop, Evil Eye Edit. Paulina Stevens (she/her) grew up in an insular Romani American family and is the subject of “Foretold”, a podcast produced by the LA Times. She owns a holistic healing store, Romani Holistic in Newport Beach, CA, where she offers readings and holistic healing coaching. Find her on Instagram here.

Together, Jezmina and Paulina cohost Romanistan, a podcast celebrating Romani culture, and are the authors of Secrets of Romani Fortune Telling. Roma are a diasporic ethnic group originally from India also known by the misnomer/slur, “Gypsies.”
