  • Tree Grafting Demonstration and Q&A | 9:00 - 11:00 am (free): First come-first-serve. Learn about grafting fruit trees - citrus, avocado and other fruits. On-going grafting demonstration and Q&A. Surplus grafted fruit trees will be for sale (cash & check only).
  • Master Gardener (MG) Training Garden Open House: MGs will be on hand to answer questions about the vegetable and flower raised bed gardens that attract beneficial insects.
  • Water Wise Home Idea Garden Tours: Master Gardener Lynne will be giving tours of a beautifullly landscaped garden and tell you about water wise plants that survive hot climates with a minimal amount of irrigation!
  • Got a Plant Question? Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your gardening questions. CTAHR seeds will be for sale (cash & check only).


Workshop tickets required for the following activities (workshop tickets include general admission to free activities):

  • Growing a Pollinator Garden Workshop | 9:00 - 10:00 AM ($12 fee): Learn how to build your own pollinator garden, including soil blocking & information on pollinators. Take a walk through a pollinator garden. Fee includes sprouted seedlings to take home and get your own pollinator garden started! Kids are welcome and must be accompanied by parents.
  • Fruit Orchard Tour | 9:15 - 10:15 AM ($5 fee): Tour the fruit orchard at the Urban Garden Center! Part of the tour will focus on mangoes and the remainder will focus on fruits that are in season. A mango varietal list will be provided to participants. Participants should wear covered shoes to walk on uneven dirt and gravel pathways in an open field.
  • Tomato Seed Saving Workshop | 9:15 - 10:30 AM ($5 fee): Learn about CTAHR seeds and practice saving your own tomato seeds from ripe fruit. Start seeds to take home and grow in your own garden.
  • Plant Propagation for Beginners Workshop | 9:30 - 11:00 AM ($10 fee): Propagation workshop for beginners. Topics include propagation by cuttings, seed propagation and maintenance. This is a hands-on workshop where you can take home your own plantings. Please bring your own pruners and gloves.
  • Patio & Container Garden Workshop | 10:30 - 11:15 AM ($5 fee): Please join us at this workshop and learn Intermediate Gardening skills to help you with your HOME garden. This is Part 2 of the Intermediate Gardening workshop. This workshop is not intended for advanced gardeners or farmers. This workshop will cover:

- An introduction to the Pearl City Urban Garden, Master Gardener Program, and the Master Gardener Training Garden (MGTG).

- Getting all the cloud documents for the MGTG by scanning the QR code at the MGTG entrance.

- Container Gardening Testing: Basics of growing vegetables in containers.

- Succession Planting: basics to set up for a continuous stream of vegetables as you need them.

- Virus Identification: Introduction to identifying plant viruses on different types of vegetables encountered at the MGTG.

- Pest Identification: Identification of plant pests on different types of vegetables at the MGTG.


UGC Guidelines:

  • Event hours from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. You are welcome to arrive 15 min prior to your workshop time to register.
  • All guests must sign a UH consent waiver at the registration area upon arrival. Parents/guardians must provide supervision of minors at all times during the event to ensure their safety and security.
  • Bring drinking water to stay hydrated in the heat. Food will not be for sale.
  • Wear appropriate outdoor attire: shoes and sun protection.
  • Only guide dogs are allowed. No pets allowed.
  • The back gardens are closed to self-tours.
