Second Life Candle Making Class

Second Life Candle Making Class

Tala BeachMiami Beach, FL
Thursday, Apr 16 from 6 pm to 7 pm
Overview

Second Life Candle Making Classin honor of Earth Month

Step into a candle-making experience designed as both a creative reset and a thoughtful way to celebrate Earth Month.

Guests are invited to bring a vessel of their own; a ceramic, a glass, or something tucked away at home that deserves a second life. Upcycling is at the heart of this experience. It is about making something new without starting from scratch, and finding value in what you already have. With guidance, you will prepare your piece for pouring and learn how to safely turn it into a functional candle.

For those without a vessel, a selection of repurposed Clase Azul bottles will be available for use. Each has been thoughtfully cut down and reimagined for candle use. As these ceramic bottles are not recyclable and would otherwise end up in landfill, this offering extends their lifecycle through intentional design.

Using a curated selection from the Buena Vista Candle Co. scent library, you’ll choose from earthy woods, soft florals, and fresh green notes. With guidance, you’ll blend a fragrance that feels personal and balanced, then pour natural wax into your vessel. The process is hands-on and approachable, using simple techniques you can return to again.

A small note about your vessel: For best results, please bring a vessel no larger than 3 inches in circumference and 4 inches in height with a flat base, similar to a standard coffee mug. If you do not have a vessel to bring, a selection of repurposed Clase Azul bottles will be available for use.

What you’ll experience:

• An introduction to natural waxes and essential oils

• Wax temperature control for optimal results

• Professional pouring techniques

• Proper wick placement and alignment

• Curing and care for long-lasting candles

Please note: This is not a scent formulation class. Guests will work with pre-developed scent blends to ensure the highest quality and burn performance.

Because soy wax requires time to properly set, candles will remain in a temperature-controlled studio for 1 to 2 hours after pouring. Guests may pick up their finished pieces the next day at 1 Hotel South Beach. Pieces will be stored for 1 week following the workshop.

For best results, candles should cure at home for at least one week before lighting, ensuring a cleaner burn and a more refined fragrance experience.

*Our hotel programming is complimentary for 1 Hotel guests, members, and residents 21+. Hotel guests please see concierge or email MIA1HSB-MarketingLeaders@1hotels.com to ensure space is available and secure your spot. 1 Club Members please email members@1hotels.com to RSVP.
