This is a three-day experience of in-depth training and observation to help you develop a city-wide or region-wide Dinner Church strategies. Partake in meals, training sessions, fireside chats and observations of Dinner Churches in action. Enjoy the tastes of Seattle and explore not only its famous coffee scene but how fresh expressions of Church can form around a shared meal. You’ll stay with Verlon and Melodee Fosner and visit a few of their 15 Community Dinners.


Details

  • Cost - $249.00 includes Thursday dinner, Friday lunch & dinner. If you stay at hotel there will be breakfast provided there.
  • Recommended Hotel Information - Northgate Hampton / 9550 1st Ave NE, Seattle, Washington, 98115 / 206-522-6991 / Hotel Website - CLICK HERE to make a Reservation. (They provide shuttle to the Venue - Calvalry Christian Assembly.)
  • Transportation: If you don’t want to rent a car, you can Uber to Hotel ($75 one way) and ride the Hampton Shuttle to Calvary each morning. We will provide a bus from Calvary to all other venues, and back to the Hotel. Then you can Uber from Calvary to Airport on Wednesday.

Thursday, October 17th

  • 5:45pm - Meet at Calvalry Christian Assembly @ 6801 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle WA, 98115
  • 6pm - Dinner
  • 7pm - Meet/Greet/Chat w/ the Seattle Team
  • 8:30pm - Head back to the hotel

Friday, October 18th

  • 9am - Meet @ Calvary Parking Lot to catch bus
  • 9:30am - Coffee Culture @ KEXP Vita Coffee including Lessons, Taste Testing with US Barista champion Samantha Spillman (who happens to be one of our Dinner Church pastors)
  • 11:30am - Light lunch @ Seattle Center (overlooking the city and a convo about neighborhoodism, people groupings, and Jesus Tables.)
  • 1pm - Westlake Center and a convo on the DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT WORLD OF THE ISOLATED. Followed by a tour through the many layers of poverty. (That exist in your town too.)
  • 2pm - Pike market cove on Historic Dinner Church
  • 2:30pm - Free Time @ the famous outdoor Pike Market
  • 4:30p - Join the Pre-Team-Huddle @ Denny Park Dinner Church (Agape’ Sized) Then eat dinner & engage with that very diverse congregation. (Alternate option: Join the Lake City Dinner Church which is held in a 245-unit low-income Apartment Bldg. This is a socio-specific opportunity in which we expect to open dozens throughout the country in the next few years.)
  • 7pm - Debrief the days observations
  • 8:30pm - Head back to the hotel

Saturday, October 19th

  • 9 am - Meet @ Calvary for convo on Theological Underpinnings and unexpected Divine Downloads associated with Jesus Tables.
  • 11am - Best practices nationally observed & final Q & A.
  • 12 noon - Head for the airport

Your Guides

Verlon and Melodee Fosner have been in church leadership for 35 years. They are founders of Community Dinners, a network of Dinner Churches in Seattle and Dinner Church Collective, a movement of Dinner Church practitioners across North America. Verlon is the author of books like Welcome to Dinner, Church and A Trowel and a Sword. When not traveling to train dinner church leaders, Verlon and Melodee can be found with their grandkids in Seattle and Nashville.
