SEANCHAÍ RETURNS: EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE IN THE BRONX
Overview
SEANCHAÍ: EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE IN THE BRONX
Seanchaí is groundbreaking Irish Rebel Hip Hop, blending traditional Irish storytelling and music with the pulse of hip-hop and the energy of dance music. In the 1990s, this new genre emerged in NYC’s bar scene, spearheaded by Chris Byrne, a former New York City cop turned musician, who had already made waves as a founding member of Black 47—a band known for its politically charged Irish rock. With Seanchaí, Byrne pushes Irish music further, blending uilleann pipes, bodhrán beats, and traditional folk melodies with the contemporary sounds of hip-hop, reggae, and electronic dance music. Seanchaí’s Irish Rebel Hip Hop injects the centuries-old spirit of Irish resistance songs with modern urban energy. What more fitting place to see them than in Woodlawn, NYC’s ‘Little Ireland’ located in rap’s birthplace, The Bronx? The Burren Public House presents.
