SDE and Disability
Event Information
Description
This is the 7th webinar in our series put together by facilitators across the ALC Network as an introduction to the philosophy, tools, and practices from our self-directed education communities. It is our hope that the content offered in these sessions will be useful to families adapting to having kids unable to physically attend their usual learning centers, schools, and other facilitated meetups. Profits from registrations will go to supporting awesome facilitators in continuing to offer online support and sessions even as covid-19 closures of centers and side-hustle spaces strain folks' finances.
We've talked generally about how our ALC communities support folks with all kinds of different interests, needs, and abilities. What does that support specifically look and sound like when we're centering what works for kids and adults with disabilities? How do we change our meetings and tools, our facilitation, and the set-up of our spaces as the needs of our community members change? We are often asked if SDE "works" for kids with disabilities...and the answer is YES! Join us to learn more about how and why.
This webinar is hosted by Crystal Farmer (she/her). Crystal is an Agile Learning Facilitator at Gastonia Freedom School in NC. Before becoming an educator, she worked in 21st century corporate environments and recruited students into STEM fields.
