Palo Alto Art Center Foundation welcomes Sally Walk, a Melbourne (Australia) based ceramic artists who has passionately been shaping clay into art for over 30 years. She is a dedicated member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) and has proudly showcased her work at numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally.
In this workshop, participants will play with texture and shape using a variety of wheel thrown and hand building techniques. Workshop participants will create organic sculptural forms with an emphasis on excessive texture and patterning. Both hand builders and wheel throwers welcome! Experience in ceramics required.
Sally Walk's exhibition venues include Taoxichuan Flagship store in Jingdezhen, China, the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan, Seto Cultural Museum in Japan, and the highly regarded Sydney Contemporary in Australia. In 2015 she was recognised with the prestigious Lorenzo il Magnifico Award for Ceramics at the Florence Biennale in Italy. In 2022 Walk won the North Queensland Ceramic Art Award in Australia. Over the last 8 years she has presented ten solo exhibitions and been included in numerous group exhibitions, each showcasing her evolving creativity and commitment to her art. Sally has also had the privilege of being a resident artist in various locations worldwide, enriching her artistic insights and experiences.
In conjunction with this workshop Sally Walk will give a presentation of her work on Friday, June 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center.
