About this event

Moving beyond the fundamentals, we will explore the nuances of head and facial studies, delving into the essential techniques required for constructing a mesmerizing sitting full figure. Throughout the class, I will guide you with detailed demonstrations for each step, empowering you to infuse your own style and artistic expression into the creation of a seated full figure. While previous experience in figurative sculpture is beneficial, we encourage all enthusiastic learners with a passion for handbuilding to apply.

Workshop Schedule: 4 days/4 hours (16 hours/with instructor + 4 extra hours of studio time)

Wednesday, July 24th, Saturday, July 27th, Wednesday, July 31st, and Saturday, August 3rd
from 8 am to 12 pm +.

Day 1 (4 hours):

  • ​Cut templates.
  • Utilize templates to cut slabs.
  • Assemble legs/ feet/hip.
  • Clean up and wrap slabs and bust with plastic.

Day 2 (4 Hours):

  • Assemble torso/arms/hands.
  • Clean up and wrap the sculpture with plastic.

Day 3 (4 Hours):

  • Assemble the head.
  • Take measurements/dimensions of the face.
  • Assemble the neck.
  • Place the head on the bust.
  • Clean up and wrap the sculpture with plastic.

Day 4 (4 Hours):

  • Complete the assembly.
  • Clean up the sculpture with cloth and brushes.
  • Apply a layer of sieved slip for a smooth finish.
  • Employ any desired technique.
  • Prepare the piece for drying and bisque firing.
  • Clean up and wrap the sculpture with plastic.

Cancellation & Refund Policies

Cancellation requests made more than 7 days before the class date will be eligible for a cancellation fee of 10% of the registration cost to cover administrative and material costs. Cancellation requests made between 7 days and 48 hours before the class date will receive a 50% refund. Cancellation requests made less than 48 hours before the class date are not eligible for a refund. Eventbrite’s fees are non-refundable, so they won't be returned to the ticket buyer unless the event is canceled, or if the buyer requests a refund for a duplicate charge within 7 days of purchase.

Participants will create a 25’’ tall figure using clay slabs, simple patterns, and photographic references (all provided). We will explore the construction and detailing of various body parts including the feet, legs, hips, torso, arms, hands, head, and neck on a basic armature

How can I prepare for this course to optimize my learning experience?
