The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to take a one-mile hike with Education Specialist Tommy Nordmann through Scrub Oak Preserve and learn about Volusia County’s extensive restoration efforts to return this preserve into scrub habitat and provide a home for the Florida scrub jay, a threatened species endemic to Florida.

** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program.

ACTIVITY: This will be a moderate hike. Soft sand on the trails may make it difficult for some hikers.

RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered.

TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.

AGES: All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing for the outdoors

WHAT TO BRING: water, bug spray, sunscreen

FACILITIES: There will be a port-a-potty but no running water.
