Event description

Description

Celebrate Scratch Day on Sunday, May 21st from 1-4pm at Howard Community College.

The 2017 Scratch Day celebration is a collaboration between Howard County based computer coding initiatives be.a.coder, Girls Who Code & How Girls Code. This is Be You's 3rd year hosting Scratch Day along with MIT and millions of others across the globe from countries like Japan, Australia, Ecuador and Nigeria!

Girls and boys in grades 4-12 are encouraged to attend. The $10 registration fee reserves your seat and includes a t-shirt and light refreshments. No prior experience is necessary. Parents may accompany their child(ren) without purchasing an additional ticket. Donations to support this and future coding events are greatly appreciated.

Teacher Training by How Girls Code

Are you an educator interested in learning how to use Scratch? Do you have questions about how it can fit into your curriculum? Join How Girls Code for a two hour training session during Scratch day. You'll learn Scratch basics and ideas for incorporating it into your classroom instruction. Educators at all levels and from all schools are welcome! Class is limited to the first 20 participants so be sure to register soon!

Thanks to Howard Community College and the Howard Tech Council for supporting Scratch Day 2017!

If you or your business would be interested in sponsoring Scratch Day, please get in touch. Your much-needed support will allow us to continue programs and events like these and keep them open and accessible to all.
