Scoping the Horizon Workshop

The Workshop will be held atMetroLabin Brussels. Metrolab Brussels (MLB) is a trans-disciplinary and inter-university laboratory for applied and critical urban research, funded by the Brussels Capital Region through its ERDF program (2014-2020). Metrolab Brussels' scientifc program is structured by three main axes of research - urban inclusion, urban ecology, urban production - which correspond roughly to the social, environmental and economic dimensions of sustainable urban development.The venue is located a few minutes walk from the Kanal (Centre Pompidou) in Brussels.

<P><SPAN>We will host a<STRONG> two-day strategic planning and proposal preparation workshop</STRONG> in @MetroLab in Brussels on 12-13 December 2019. The idea is to share the burden of consortium forming and proposal preparation and to work collaboratively across different calls. In addition we will run a Horizon Scoping session to establish the strategic context. </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN><STRONG>Scoping the Horizon</STRONG> foregrounds the need for stronger contextual understanding at a time when technological changes embed us - our emotions, expectations, expressions - in human-machine-collectives of unprecedented scale. Life and work in complex and multi-dimensional scalable systems also changes the way we approach citizenship. As we move through such systems, our roles are subject to change; if we limit our understanding of stakes (consumer or citizen, state or market or civil society), we will fail to comprehend the multiple roles we play as we move across value chains and societal sectors, and engage with each other in and across human-machine networks.<BR></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>We will address <STRONG>open and forthcoming calls of common interest</STRONG>, mainly under Science with and for Society (SwafS), Societal Challenge 6 and ICT but also any other calls in which you are interested. </SPAN></P>
