Join The Watch Hill Conservancy to Celebrate World Bird Migration Day with a guided birdwatching tour led by Napatree Science Advisor Dr. Peter Paton (URI Department of Natural Resources). Dr. Paton will lead participants along the shore of Napatree to learn about and observe the diversity of birds that utilize the Napatree Point Conservation Area.

With 302 species of bird species observed in The Conservation Area. Napatree is designated a Globally Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society.

The target age range for this program is high school and older, but all ages are welcome. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

This program will last approximately 90 minutes and participants will walk ~2.5 miles on sand.

The program is designed to last under 2 hours so participants can use the free parking available throughout the village of Watch Hill.

This is the first of the Napatree Scientific Stroll programs to be offered in 2024. The Napatree Scientific Stroll programs will highlight over a decade of monitoring and stewardship work in The Napatree Point Conservation Area. You can read The State of Napatree Report on The Watch Hill Conservancy website to learn more about the monitoring and stewardship that takes place in The Napatree Point Conservation Area.
