Science of Candy and Sugar 4-H Camp

Learn about the science behind how some of your favorite candies are made and how sugar chemically interacts with ingredients to change them and give us delicious treats. This is a super fun class that is part chemistry and part cooking for kids who are serious about learning. We will have a combination of classroom learning and hands on cooking. We will be learning about where sugar comes from, the different types of sugars, how sugar changes as it is heated, then we will be making several types of candy. Due to safety and hygiene concerns close-toed shoes are required and hair must be pulled back or under a cap. Due to the nature of the class we will not be able to substitute ingredients, so please email about allergies before registering. There will be no refunds for cancellations less than 14 days before the start of class or if your child doesn’t meet age requirements or needs to be removed due to behavior issues.
