Welcome to the Function Womens+ Science & Math Powerpoint Party!

Join us online on Sun Jun 02 2024 at 12:00 PM CDT to present on a topic of your choosing! This party is perfect for anyone who loves to learn and share knowledge.

Get ready to dive into a variety of topics, from chemistry to calculus, and everything in between. You'll have the chance to present your own Powerpoint or simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

So grab your favorite snack, log in from the comfort of your own home, and get ready for some learning and laughter at the Science & Math Powerpoint Party!

Sign up here if you want to present something. The first 4-6 people on the list to sign up will go this round (Sunday, June 2nd). This is a chance for you to infodump about your interests :)

You can use the Whiteboard feature in our Zoom meetings or go all out and make a PowerPoint -- it's up to you!

Oh, and if you want to take a sip of a drink every time you use an audible pause (i.e. "umm"), we're not going to stop you ;)

I'm not "good at" science! :( Can I still come?

We show up to dance parties not knowing how to dance, paint-and-sip parties without knowing how to paint, humanities lectures with a beginner's mindset, why not science and math? This question reveals the (toxic and gatekept) culture around the subjects. If you're interested in STEM, you're invited.

What is your Cancellation/No-Show Policy?

No-Show Policy: People who aren't able to make it but don't take off their RSVP before the event 4 times will be removed from the online community or suspended from RSVPing to events for one month. Thank you for understanding!

Welcome to The Function: Chicago Math + Science Club for Women + GNC Folx!

This community is for women+ who want to go deeper into learning Science & Math, but without sacrificing being human and having fun! It's also a refuge from stuffy academia for women+ who are studying STEM in college and a safe place for them to develop their own ideas, theories, etc.

In other words, this club is for women+ who want more fun without sacrificing depth, and more depth without sacrificing fun :)

What We're Doing Now:

Most of our events include bringing a science & math concept of your choice for us to teach each other, co-study and learn more about, in environments that have drinks, games and/or dance floor spaces (on a separate floor to reduce loudness).

We're also hoping to have Powerpoint Parties, brunch events, beach events, library hangouts, and more. Our group evolves with your suggestions and feedback, so let us know if you have any other ideas!

In the future, The Function will be its own physical space,

a dayclub with:

-eats/drinks

-STEM discussions

-co-working

-co-studying

-health classes etc. by day...

and a nightclub,

-space for your science and math lectures

-dancing

-and entertainment by night.
