Science Communication Workshop
Join us for a half-day science communication workshop led by the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS).
Join us for a half-day science communication workshop led by the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS). This interactive program is designed primarily for University of Maryland students, but IFT members and other interested participants are welcome to attend.
The workshop will combine practical instruction with hands-on activities to help participants build confidence communicating scientific information to broader audiences. During the first half of the program, an AIBS instructor will present lectures on the fundamentals of science communication, including essential skills and techniques for communicating clearly and effectively. Participants will also learn about the media landscape in a “Media 101” session, which explores how news organizations operate and the drivers and constraints that shape different news delivery channels.
The second half of the workshop will focus on practice and application. Participants will engage in interactive exercises, including mock media interviews, to develop and refine their communication skills in a supportive environment.
