YPO Live: Plastic Waste Scale-A-Thon

This Scalathon was a project of the Circular Economy Impact Group. Originally convened around YPO’ers concern for the health of the world’s oceans and the need for a circular economy.The Impact Group runs regular events and programs that connect business experience, networks, and investment know-how of YPO’ers.The team has worked for the last 9 months to develop a toolkit of different activities to accelerate the circular economy and reduce plastic waste.

 A virtual Scale-A-Thon journey to help ocean plastic startups overcome their biggest scaling challenge and 10x their impact!

Oceans are reaching their plastic breaking point, we need solutions that will be scaled fast to avoid the point of no return 💣.This Scale-A-Thon is to help high-potential startups who are building a circular economy for plastics and reducing plastic waste 📈 .This journey is the opportunity to connect with other impactful startups in a creative and energised atmosphere, whilst working with world leaders, CEOs, NGOs and other experts curated by YPO. Giving startups the tools and connections to 10X their impact output in the next year. We are looking for inspiring startups that have:<ol><li>An effective and long-term solution the the global ocean plastic waste problem</li><li> A strong client base</li><li> A committed Team</li><li> And are ready to scale! </li></ol>At the end of the Scale-A-Thon journey, startups will have scaled and grown their impact. The 10 selected startups will leave the kick-off weekend with a Forum Tribe, which they will meet regularly with to gain more insight in business practices and experiences of fellow CEOs. 🏆 and many more opportunities along their scaling journey.

Each startup will apply to focus on their biggest scaling challenge during the Scale-A-Thon weekend to develop a plan on overcoming it with the scaling methodology developed by YPO and the insight of experts. The team identified the 4 most common scaling challenges to focus on.<ul><li>Challenge 1. Insufficient Product-Market Fit</li><li>Challenge 2. Unstable Team</li><li>Challenge 3. Poor sales strategy &amp; internal processes</li><li>Challenge 4. Slow Tech Development or Performance</li></ul>Do you recognise any of the issues?
