Learn how your small business can sell to the world’s largest customer—the U.S. government. This training covers the basics of government contracting, how to register, where to find opportunities, and how to tap into set-aside programs designed to help small and disadvantaged businesses succeed.

Government Contracting

1. What is Government Contracting: Understand the basics of government contracting, including what it is, who the buyers are, and why it’s a valuable opportunity for small businesses.
2. The Federal Marketplace: Learn how the U.S. government buys goods and services, the types of contracts used, and the key federal agencies involved in procurement.
3. Small Business Participation & Set-Asides: Explore how the government sets aside contracts for small and disadvantaged businesses, and get introduced to programs like 8(a), HUBZone, and WOSB/EDWOSB.
4. Registration and Getting Started: Learn the essential steps to enter the federal marketplace, including how to register in SAM.gov, get a UEI number, identify your NAICS codes, and create a capability statement.
5. Finding and Responding to Opportunities: Discover tools like SAM.gov, FPDS-NG, and USAspending.gov for finding opportunities, and gain a basic understanding of RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
6. Next Steps and Resources: Get connected with local PTACs, SBA offices, and other support organizations that help small businesses navigate and succeed in government contracting.
