Students are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet for writing and editing. Paper and pen are also welcome for brainstorming and note-taking.

Will snacks be provided?

Yes. Snacks will be provided courtesy of Neighborhood Learning Alliance (NLA).

Who should attend this workshop?

This workshop is designed for high school juniors and seniors, as well as college freshmen who are preparing college or scholarship personal statements.

Do I need to have an essay started before attending?

No. Students may come with an existing draft or start from scratch during the workshop.

Will this help with both college and scholarship applications?

Yes. The skills and strategies shared apply to both college admissions essays and scholarship personal statements.
