<h3>IF the tickets are SOLD OUT, we still have room for you!!</h3><h3>Just send Triston.hansford@uga.edu an email to be manually added</h3><p></p><p></p><h2>Join us to become one of Georgia's First Detectors, and to help fight the spread of invasive species in our beautiful state.</h2><p>We will have professional speakers from the University of Georgia, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia Forestry Commission, and others. These speakers will discuss topics related to the identification, management, reporting and tracking of invasive insects, plants, wildlife and diseases as well as other programs in place to combat the spread of invasive species in Georgia.</p><h3>What Do You Need to Prepare?</h3><ul><li><ul><li><ul><li>A desire to help protect our native ecosystems and fight invasive species!</li><li>Water and outdoor clothing, as some instruction time will be outdoors</li><li>Note taking materials if you'd like to take notes</li><li>Download the EDDMapS App from Google Play or Apple App Store, and register or log into an EDDMapS account before the event. We will discuss how to use EDDMapS and practice using it to report invasive species.</li><li>See below for the lunch plans</li></ul></li></ul></li></ul><p>Each individual that attends the entirety of the one day training course will leave with a Georgia First Detector Certification.</p><p>*Be sure to bring water and dress appropriately as some instruction time will be spent outdoors.*</p><p>Bathrooms will be available on site</p><p></p><h3><strong><strong>Lunch:</strong></strong></h3><p>There are a number of fast-food restaurants near our meeting location. This is to ensure that we have all of your names so that we may print your certificate of completion before hand.</p><h3>Master Gardeners, SAF members and Foresters, Georgia Arborists, and Pesticide Applicators</h3><p>For the completion of this training, attendees can receive advanced training/ continuing education credits:</p><p>Master Gardeners receive Advanced Training Credits</p><p>Foresters can receive SAF approved Continuing Education Credits</p><p>Georgia Arborists can receive GAA Continuing Education Credit hours</p><p>Georgia Licensed Pesticide Applicators can receive Pesticide Credit hours</p><h3>Mission</h3><p>The primary goal of the Georgia First Detector Program is to establish a network of well-trained and dedicated volunteers, also known as “First Detectors” that will:</p><ol><li><ul><li><ul><li>Assist in the ongoing collection of invasive species detections in the state</li><li>Identify new infestations to help Early Detection and Rapid Response (EDRR) programs to slow and control invasive species before they become unmanageable</li></ul></li></ul></li></ol><p></p>
