The Saturday Love all Dayer in Broomfield Park, Palmers Green will bring back the sounds, bands and Djs to get us back into the vibe of those funky days. The live line-up is awesome and we are so privileged to have brit funk royalty The Brit Funk Association, brit funk legends Atmosfear and the incredible City Funk Orchestra. Get your “Tribe” together and come down.
Knowledgeable Djs such as Richie Tee, Keith Robles, Richard Marzetti, Peter Maynard and Mr Jones Cafe 432 will be all laying down tracks that'll spin you back to those funky and soulful club nights.
The times from 1979-1985 was quite a niche scene which was born out of the music of early American jazz funk pioneers. Legends such as Roy Ayres, Grover Washington, Bob James, Ronnie Laws, Ramsey Lewis, Wilbert Longmuire, The Blackbyrds leading to bands and artists such as Earth Wind & Fire, SOS Band, Funkadelic/Parliament, Change, Rick James, George Benson, Bobby Womack, Luther Vandross, Maze etc. Plus the whole Philly sound with MFSB, Dexter Wansel, McFadden and Whithead and more.
Of course, it also brought through our very own home grown Brit Funk bands and music with Light of The World, Beggar & Co, High Tension, Freeez, Central Line, Atmosfear, Loose Ends, Lynx, Imagination, Cool Runners etc.
We listened to Robbie Vincent and Greg Edwards on the radio and Chris Hill, Froggy, Sean French, Jeff Young, Snowboy and even Pete Tong in the clubs. Aspiring DJs and Funk lovers then went out to the record shops spending hours trying to get the newest imports and tunes. How we loved doing that, who remembers!
Clubs like The Royalty in Southgate were the catalyst for us being able to engage in the music and carried the scene with those legendary DJs. This led to the All Dayers and Soul Weekenders (Caister) we loved so much and gave us another way of being able to get together with liked minded funksters.
