As we kick off Black History Month in February, we want to celebrate in an evening that brings together the spices of  East Africa, the aromas of South America and the Caribbean, and the soul of the American South, each bite is a celebration of the culinary origins we’ve all been influenced by.  Sankofa teaches us to go back to our roots in order to move forward. Immerse yourself in the warmth of family style plates, shared stories, live music, and the chefs' personal connections to the diaspora come to life. This collaboration is more than a dinner; it's an exploration of the shared roots and varied influences that have shaped the culinary landscape over such a large part of the world.Chef Michele McQueen of Town Fare will be representing the American South, Chef Nelson German of AlaMar will be representing the Caribbean &amp; Dominican Republic, Chef Adiam  of Melah Bistro  will be representing East Africa &amp; Ethiopia, Chef Juan Hormiga of Parche will be representing South America &amp; Colombia.

Feast on the diverse culinary talents of Chef Nelson German of Top Chef Season 18 and Chef/Owner of Alamar Dominican Kitchen and Sobre Mesa, Chef Michele McQueen a guest Chef and contestant on Food Network and Chef/Owner of Town Fare, Chef Adiam Tsegaye of the modern Ethiopian bistro Mela Bistro and Chef Juan Hormiga of Parche Contemporary Columbian, a James Beard recognized restaurant.  Enjoy a cocktail hour with a cocktail demo and Ethiopian coffee demo as well as passed appetizers from each Chef. Dine together in an elegant family style dinner service featuring a divine dinner representing the region of each Chef. There will be a  DJ and live performance during the evening with an afterparty at Sobre Mesa in Oakland following the festivities.
