San Mateo Zoning Code Update Virtual Workshop

The City is embarking on a comprehensive update to the Zoning Code to align with the recently adopted General Plan 2040 and 2023–2031 Housing Element, including updating zoning districts to match General Plan land uses. Revisions to the Zoning Code will also remove outdated rules, facilitate new development options, and make the code clearer and easier to use.

At this virtual workshop, you’ll learn about the Zoning Code Update, including the General Plan 2040 goals and policies that are guiding this process. We will also gather feedback on the key issues the Zoning Code Update should address. Please join us Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, for a presentation about the Zoning Code Update that includes time for your questions and feedback.

This meeting will be conducted using Zoom, an online video/audio conferencing platform. Meeting participants can join by desktop, tablet, or smart phone with Internet connection.
