Farm to Fork

June 30, July 1, July 2

9:00am-3:00pm

Ages: 10-18 years old

Cost: $37


Where does this food come from? What is local? How do I make this? So many questions and three days of explaining the agriculture in Sampson County. We will be attending several farms in the mornings and returning to cook each day.

Day One: Local produce farm for vegetable crops.

Day Two: Grantham, NC is home to a 1200-head working dairy goat farm. We will visit the farm, see their milking process, and then watch the large-scale cheese making. The return trip will stop again at a fruit stand and pick seasonal items. We will return to cook again!

Day Three: Where is the beef? This day will be a short farm visit to a livestock facility to discuss meat production and its significance to Sampson County. We will return and cook.


Sew What?!?

July 9, July 10, July 11

Ages 8-18 year old

Cost: $25

The sewing machines are ready to run! We will be making various items that will help kids learn the basics of sewing. We will start with hand sewing, and move on to the machine. All three days will be in the conference room at the extension office. All materials will be provided. If you have special fabric, please bring on day two! If you have a working sewing machine, bring it so you can improve on your machine. Please bring a snack and drink.


Cooking with Sydney

Junior Class - July 15, 2025

9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Ages 5-9 years old

Cost: $25

The junior-age youth will be learning about handwashing, knife skills, and the basics of being in the kitchen. This will be followed up with learning simple cooking methods and how to prepare, cook, and serve a healthy dish with a dessert.


Cooking with Sydney

Senior Class - July 16, 2025

9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Ages 10-18 year old

Cost: $25

The senior-age group will jump in to the kitchen with a breif brush-up on handwashing, knife skills and cooking method. The senior ages will be more indepth and using multiple cooking methods. Kids will prepare, cook and eat a healthy dish with a dessert.


4-H Congress

July 21, 2025 - July 25, 2025

Ages 13-18 years old

Let's travel to Raleigh for a 5 day "Beyond Ready: Dream it, Do it"! This year we are going back to 5 days of fun with 4-H youth from across our great state. The youth will experience workshops that can promote fellowship amongst their peers, an evening dance in your semi-formal best, competitions, and much much more! Ages 13-18


Pass the Bread

July 22, 2025

Breadmaking has become popular. Sydney Knowles will be teaching kids how to make Focaccia bread. She will teach the youth how to decorate their bread before baking using fruits and vegetables.


Sound Explorers

July 23, 2025

8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Ages 5-8 years old will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Ages 9-18 can ride the van.

Cost: $30

NC Coastal Federation will be meeting us at Carolina Beach, NC. They will take us out into the marsh to teach the kids about the ecology of the sound. We will have a chance to see the marine crustations living in the surrounding waters of North Carolina. There will be a marine dissection also. After we learn about the ecology in the sounds of NC coast, we will be stopping at the beach to sharpen our new skills and enjoy the remainder of the day.


NC Eastern 4-H Camp

July 27, 2025 - August 1, 2025

Ages 8-12 years old

WANTED!!! Looking for 1 male and 2 female 4-H youth from Sampson County that want a week of FUN on Bull Bay in Columbia, NC. The Eastern 4-H Center offers many activities for the campers. The campers will have a week of water and non-water activities. The Eastern Center does an amazing job educating campers on ecology of the surrounding waters, water activities such as kayaking, paddle boards, and crabbing. (Yes, they also have a nice swimming pool). The camp councelors participate in a international 4-H program. They take time to guide the youth all week through activities while building relationships. Our youth come back home with a wealth of knowledge about our waterways, marksmanship, team challenges, and making friends. Ages 8-12

Summer Plunge II

It's the last of the sunny summer break! Join us for the last day of our summer programs. We will be enjoying a day of practicing teamwork and water safety at White Lake Waterpark at White Lake.
