Overview

Hosted by Molly Frances Arnuk & Thomas Shorthouse

Sam·ple li·bra·ry

/ˈsɑːmpᵊl ˈlaɪbrᵊri/

a collection of sampled sounds for use in music production, including instruments, vocals, synths, sound effects, field recordings, etc.

In this next concert we look at how the modern concept of a Sample Library appears in older musics. Past composers took material from speech patterns, found sounds, and music of other genres. The programme presents examples, punctuated by live electronic improvisations using material sampled directly from rehearsals.

All profits generated from this concert will be donated to Yorkshire Youth & Music.
