Drought is causing Lake Meade to drop to its lowest levels since it began to fill as part of the construction of the Hoover Dam. Wildfires are already on the march taking out thousands of acres of woodlands and threatening homes. The melting of the Greenland ice sheet is predicted to raise average sea levels by one foot by the end of the century. The Climate is changing, and we need to be ready.<h3>On October 12th, please join the members of the USGBC Mid-Atlantic/New England Region and the SAME NYC Post at the United States Military Academy at West Point for our second annual Resilience Summit: How we build our resilient future. </h3>Bringing national, regional and local actors together to figure out our best way forward in these challenging times, for the NY metro area and beyond. The summit will delve into the many aspects that are needed to make ourselves more resilient, from the plans of the US Army Corps of Engineers, to how financial institutions are working to weather the storms in our future, to how we create the needed community connections to bounce back rapidly from disasters that are striking ever more often, to how the federal actions can help us in this fight for our lives and neighborhoods. Resilience is a critical component of building a healthier, more sustainable future, but can also influence how companies and governments respond to social and economic disruptions. Resilience planning helps future proof assets and support communities in times of crisis according to USGBC. In a resiliency brief, USGBC states that addressing and emphasizing resilience through green building and infrastructure certifications can help ensure a more resilient future for all.The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Resilience Community of Interest (COI) directly supports the second SAME Strategic Plan goal to “Build and Sustain Resilient Communities.” The National effort contributes to government and private sector collaborations that serve to minimize the impacts of and enhance effective response and recovery to natural and man-made threats. USGBC continues to monitor policy and procedures and is working actively to remain in compliance with federal, state, and local agencies to implement best practices aimed at managing the spread of COVID-19.To protect the health and peace of mind of our attendees, USGBC has implemented the following preventive measures:•	All in-person attendees of USGBC in-person events must be vaccinated in advance to participate.
