Safe Conversation Workshop

Zoë, a bilingual Puerto Rican is an animated, articulate, and visionary speaker, who engages audiences in how to develop and broadcast their message. A longtime Santa Monica resident, leader of Compassionate Santa Monica and only Latina who ran for a seat in the 2014 Santa Monica City Council election race.  A speaker on media and publishing as it relates to the intersectionality of politics, art, education, business, technology, and diversity. She founded MOON Media & Communications, a boutique consulting firm for Public Relations, Digital Media, Advertising, Marketing, Film Production, and Publishing. Currently, she is at work on a documentary film about Santa Monica elections which started filming during her race in 2014.With social media savvy and decades of experience in business and marketing, Zoë has a great deal of value to share with change-agents and people who want to make a difference or develop a brand aligned with social justice and social entrepreneurship.  Zoë has spoken passionately, courageously, and convincingly before the Santa Monica City Council to get a unanimous vote to sign the Charter for Compassion and on issues related to worker and animal rights. One to never cease marveling with her warmth, presence, and ability to see the bigger picture and connect the dots. DIVERSITY MATTERS is her first blog and outlet to the world. She is a Kundalini Yoga and Pilates Instructor and runs theWellbeing Project.In her free time, Zoë is a skilled Storyteller who performs around Los Angeles at The Moth, BUSted and venues that commission her work. She started performing stories in New York after the insistence of friends who marveled at the twists, turns, and adventures of her life.

SAFE CONVERSATION™ is a structured relational process that helps people create a safe space in which they can interact without criticism and judgment, transcending polarization and connecting beyond difference. The process has two forms Safe Conversation Dialogue (SCD) which is a conversation between two people and Safe Conversation Communologue which is a conversation in a group. In the learning stage, both are guided processes, but as the element gets familiar, they are integrated into all of life in all ecosystems an can become a new norm in all conversations. In this space, the win/lose polarity is transcended and replaced by collaboration, cooperation, and co-creation in which every voice is heard, valued and validated. Respectful speaking and respectful listening replace all forms of negativity--shaming, blaming, criticizing or showing contempt--with mutual respect and cohesiveness. 
The word conversation come from two Greek roots, dia meaning "through" and logos meaning"word". This workshop is a form of responsible, non-judgemental talking and accurate non-judgemental listening, that creates a "space between" in which everyone feels safe to experience connecting and aliveness.  The goal is to create safety, creativity, consensus and decision making in all groups and in all human ecosystems.
The purpose of this event is to create a safe space that allows all voices to be heard, to gather the collective view of the group and, at times, to make a decision that includes group consensus....sorely needed in <A CLASS="_58cn" HREF="https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/santamonica?source=feed_text" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">#SantaMonica</A>. In all cases, the process requires that speakers and listeners replace all negativity with curiosity and acceptance. This allows for collaboration, cooperation, and co-creation, the modes of interaction in the relational culture.
