Safe Church, Safe Communities
“Safe Church, Safe Communities” has replaced the former “Safeguarding God’s Children” to move from a liability model to a more comprehensive training approach, rooted in our Baptismal covenant, that encompasses issues of power, ethics, boundaries, and inclusivity to create safe spaces for all, especially children and vulnerable adults. Many roles require updated Safe Church training, to be renewed every 3 years.
This six-week online training will meet Tuesdays 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm eastern on the following dates: July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6 and 13
The 6-week training sessions will cover the following modules during a 1-hour session, leaving time to go deeper into the topics and answer any questions:
- July 9: Intro and Theological Background
- July 16: Healthy Boundaries, Bullying
- July 23: Power & Relationships
- July 30: Inclusion
- August 6: Abuse & Neglect, Mandated Reporting
- August 13: Organizational Rules & Policies
While this training is specific to the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania context and requirements, all are welcome to attend. This six-week training will meet the requirements for most roles in parishes. More information about Safe Church can be found on our website: https://diocesecpa.org/safechurch/
