SESSION TITLE TBD
Sherwin Williams - Minwax Co
This session will discuss the importance of developing company leadership in building and sustaining a successful safety culture. For this to happen companies must invest resources, time, training, and knowledge in their workforce. Before field employees buy into a successful safety culture, it must first be engrained in the leadership that guides them through their daily activities. To build a successful safety culture you must be consistent, accountable, reliable, and present. When a safety culture is driven from the top down you will see employees self-correcting issues on their jobsites and gaining confidence to speak to other crafts and companies around them on the jobsite.
MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE
An overview of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults.
ERGONOMICS IN WAREHOUSING AND DISTRIBUTION – OSHA PERSPECTIVE
In support of OSHA’s National Emphasis Program (NEP) on Warehousing and Distribution Center Operations, this session will include a short overview of the NEP and will focus on the ergonomic hazard component of the NEP. Topics will include common ergonomic risk factors associated with manual material handling in the warehousing and distribution center industry, the elements of effective ergonomic programs, and recognized controls that can be utilized in to minimize risk factors in the industry.
ENERGY BASED HAZARD RECOGNITION
Energy-based hazard identification is not new. Using energy sources to identify hazards in the work area has been used as a hazard identification tool by many companies for quite some time. The concept is to use these main sources of energy to identify hazards in the workplace. Studies show that workers only identify about 45%, not even half, of the hazards in their work area during pre-job safety briefings. Those who use the Energy Wheel, however, find up to 30% more hazards in the work area during pre-task planning. The Energy Wheel is effective because it provides a simple set of reminders to search for hazards that are commonly overlooked.
TECHNOLOGY UPDATE AND DEMONSTRATION
This session will explore some of the ways that advancements in technology are improving safety in manufacturing and logistics. Featured technologies will include pallet magazines, cobots/robots, AMRs/AGVs, and more. In addition to exploring these topics in a presentation; Flex-Line Automation, Inc. will be bringing solutions from their partners to provide a hands-on demonstration of cobot palletizing, the differences between an AGV and AMR with some application ideas for both, and wearable robotics for interested attendees to try. Explore automating the dirty, dull, dangerous activities in your facilities to reduce exposure risks, and improve employee experience.
