Sacred Drum Making Workshop

Woven Green invites listeners to embark upon the mythic journey towards inner alchemy,helping to awaken sacred connection with the earth, cosmos, and the unified source within us all.Husband and wife team, Jim and Ashley Cash are the visionaries behind Woven Green’s various musical expressions and applications. In addition to their work with the healing power of sound, the couple is also known for their uplifting and inspiring songs, and for their leadership as award-winning visionary musicians.Jim and Ashley have been actively performing their blend of contemporary folk, rock, world, and new age music throughout the DC metro area for more than 10 years in both duet and ensemble form. In 2014 Jim and Ashley became especially inspired by the power of sound to bring about transformative states of consciousness and they began studying the healing power of sound and experimenting with their Soundscapes. Woven Green released their first self-produced and highly acclaimed CD of meditation music in June of 2015 and went on to launch multiple, ongoing live Soundscapes series. In 2017 they released their debut full-length album of original songs, Woven Green Into Bloom. The award-winning album is a musical journey of healing, transformation, liberation, true love, and hope for all.Woven Green is currently recording their next series of Soundscapes CDs. They hold regular events throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and continue to be dedicated to their message oriented music as a vehicle for effecting positive change.When we align with the harmonious frequencies of nature and the higher vibratory states of unconditional love and bliss, we become attuned to an energetic potential that can transform and bring balance to both our inner and outer worlds.

<P><SPAN>In this workshop we are focusing on the universal aspect of drums and drumming and especially on the sacredness of the act and commitment of giving voice to our deepest and best intensions. This workshop is open to people of all faiths and cultural backgrounds to gather together focusing our spiritual inten ons for the kind of world wish to build. We appreciate culture and tradi ons and are inspired by them, but are not claiming any one group’s cultural tradi ons. </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>Smudging Ceremony Medita on - Honoring the elements, water, air, fire, earth and the four direc ons. Calling the spirit of your drum, preparing the hoop, pulling the hides and crea ng your mallet. Se ng your intension - offering your drum in service. </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>Step by step drum making instructon </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>When you arrive for the workshop, the heads and lacings will have been soaked in ceremonial water. A er the ini al smudging ceremony, medita on and blessing, you will learn to weave the lacing on your drum in the four direc ons pa ern. This will be an opportunity for you to begin connec ng with the spirit of your drum. </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>Once we complete the drum lacing, we will then create the beater for your drum. If you have some special beads or feathers which you’d like to decorate your drum you may also bring them. The drum will take 2-3 days to fully dry before it can be played. The drum face can later be painted if desired. </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>We recommend playing your drum o en for maximum effect! Use it for healing, medita on, or to help empower social jus ce gatherings and marches! These drums are made with love and intended for service! </SPAN></P>
