Join GJ SUP/ Grand Junction Adventures for an unforgettable 3-day & 2-night Colorado River Adventure. Expect beautiful paddles, colorful hikes and yoga & meditation practices alongside the towering canyons & peaceful Colorado River.
This all-women’s adventure and wellness yoga retreat will offer lots of activity and relaxation. You will feel like you are living a dream. While at the same time strengthening bonds with new and old friends. We will build each other up, impower our adventurous spirits and balance the mind & body during this retreat that centers around paddling, hiking, yoga and fun.
Yoga makes you harmonious with nature and teaches you to be joyful and curious about your inner world. Expect to practice yoga and meditation 2 times a day alongside the towering canyons and peaceful river of Ruby-Horsethief on this all-levels retreat. You will have yoga classes and meditation practices with E-RYT 500 certified yoga instructor, Elizabeth Fortushniak and RYT-200 certified yoga instructor, Kristi Gallegos. *Note: yoga practices are optional.
Yoga & meditation will include from the following practices: Pranayama, Meditation, Yin, Yoga Nidra, Lakshmi Rising Vinyasa or Power Yoga
This section of the Colorado River is suited for beginners to experienced paddlers. The character of the river is calm, flat and slow moving. We recommend this trip for first time river paddlers. Especially, those that are ready to cross over from paddling on the lake to rivers.
Stand up paddlers will learn about river environments, paddling skills and techniques.

We will spend our days paddling the river, relaxing at camp, yoga along the river & campfire and hiking the colorful side canyons of Ruby Horsethief. Daily tarot card readings and chakra bracelet making are optional activities. You will be mesmerized by the ancient metamorphic black rocks, desert towers, rock art and wildlife.
Backcountry meals are amazingly delicious! Enjoy nutritious, locally sourced, whole food camp-cooked meals & beverages under the stars at our riverside camp. Vegetarian options are available. *A meal list with options will be sent out prior to trip.
You will camp nightly underneath the stars beside the Colorado river. Your eyes will be lit up with shooting stars.
What to Expect:
- 2-days of 12-to-10-mile paddles and 1-day 4-mile paddle
- Expect to spend up to 5 hours on the river on long paddle days
- SUP & kayak of average fitness will have no problem keeping up with the group
- Paddle boarders must be able to stand, sit, or kneel up to 5 hours each day
- Paddle boarding is a independent activity, No one can paddle your board or kayak but you
- Our certified ACA (American Canoe Association) SUP instructors will be there with you to help and instruct paddling technique
- Support raft will carry all camp and personal gear
- Expect only to carry personal water bottle & snacks
- Raft’s will be rowed by our guides

Frequently asked questions
Rivers are rated on a difficulty scale of class I (beginner) to class IV (expert) The Ruby Horsethief section of the Colorado River is calm, with no rapids larger than class I, making this the perfect river for beginner rafters, stand up paddle boarders and kayakers.
There are no fitness requirements to raft Ruby/Horsethief. Rafts will be rowed by our guides, while you relax and enjoy the scenery. Paddle boarders must be able to stand, sit, or kneel on your board up to 4 hours day. Stand up paddle and single kayaking is a solo activity.
We camp nightly beside the Colorado river. You can share or have a tent to yourself. You may also choose to sleep out under the stars.

June - Warm to hot days, cool to mild nights. July - Hot days, warm nights. August - Hot days, nights beginning to cool.
You will have the opportunity to bathe in the river each day. We recommend bringing biodegradable camp soap to lather down. We provide multiple hand washing stations at camp. A portable toilet called a groover will be used for number two.
Short Answer: No Our baggage raft will carry all camp and personal gear. You are not required to carry anything on your SUP or kayak. We recommend bringing a small day pack, and a water bottle that can be clipped onto your vessel.
