Join us to explore the rich subculture of Rubik's Cube theory in this 2-hour workshop! We will have a panel of expert cubers work with students to teach them:

Each student will also receive a free, beginner-level Rubik's Cube to practice with at home!
 
Meet the Master Cuber, Robert Maxwell:
Robert tutors advanced mathematics, SAT/ACT and SAT Subject Test prep at SpiderSmart. Outside of academics, Robert is an accomplished pianist, a chess player, and most recently, Robert completed his first pilot’s flight lesson.
For fun, Robert has honed his Rubik’s Cube skills with an average time of 32.6 seconds to solve a 3x3x3 speed cube. To do so, he has mastered complex techniques such as corner cutting, bandaging, universal gear shifting, and size distortion. He has studied the Friedrich (full CFOP), Ortega, and Waterman’s solving methods and is practiced in One-Look OLL and PLL algorithms, and advanced placement methods for F2L. Robert understands maximization of orientation and permutation of the Rubik’s Cubes solved state.
 Robert has written his own algorithms to solve the WitEden 4x4 Mixup Plus Cube and owns 13 different types of cubes to include a 2x2 up to a 5x5. Robert believes it’s important be able to dismantle and reassemble a cube and teaches proper tensioning, cleaning, and making adjustments for personalized use and maximum speed solving. Robert is happiest when he’s teaching must-know corner cutting techniques, finger tricks, turn-reduction methods, and acting as a resource for any variation of the standard cube.
