About this event

Club rides are FREE, fun, low-pressure mountain bike rides for ALL ages and skill levels. We ride when the weather is good, usually from April through September.

Club rides are held 2-3 times per month usually on Mondays. Check in is at 5:30pm to 5:55pm and riders head out at 6:00pm. Once you register here, you will receive additional ride details via email 3 days before each ride confirming the location and time.

Rides are typically 1.5 to 2 hours long. The length of each ride varies for each group, with advanced riders often riding 10-15 miles, and beginners riding 2-3 miles or doing fun games/drills near the trail head.

To ensure the safest and funnest experience for the club riders, we are limiting the total number of kids for each ride. If you register on this page and receive a ticket, you will be added to our mailing list. You can also join our mailing list on our sign up page.

Please be sure to cancel your reservation (REQUEST REFUND on Eventbrite) at least 24 hours in advance if something comes up and you can't attend. Failure to cancel, may result in removal from the Club Ride mailing list.

VOLUNTEERING:

Reno Tahoe Junior Cycling is made possible by our community. It is the amazing support of our community that allows us to continue striving for our goals of improving health and quality of life for youth through the great sport of cycling. We always need volunteers to commit to being present at club rides. Lots of budding athletes show up and we need to ensure we have the help to make it a fun ride for everyone!

We encourage parents to participate in club rides, especially when the child is quite young and may require extra encouragement and support. We also encourage parents to volunteer to help on rides. Volunteers arrive a little early, carry radios, and supplement the ride leadership of our RenoDevo athletes. If you’d like to volunteer, just show up early and let us know you’re ready to help!

If you are unable to ride with us, that’s fine! Please just make sure your rider checks-in upon arrival, and checks-out before they leave at the club information table. We have plenty of parents and RenoDevo chaperones to make sure everyone has a safe and fun ride. Parents are encouraged to remain on location in case their child’s group finishes early or the child becomes sick/injured/upset. Parents MUST BE present at the end of the ride to take their child home.

The remaining 2019 season schedule is:

  • Monday 8/5 Locations Jones Creek Trailhead and Thomas Creek Trailhead
  • Monday 8/19 Locations To Be Determined
  • Additional details on where to meet will be provided on this registration page. Times and locations are subject to change, so please check your emails from us before leaving for the ride.

Rides may be canceled for strong winds, rain, or thunder and lightning. If we cancel a ride, we will likely have a ride on the following Monday if it is not a holiday weekend.

WHO CAN COME TO CLUB RIDES?

    • Club rides are designed to accommodate all juniors, from beginner to advanced. Riders range from 4-17 years old. Kids are broken up into groups based upon age and skill level. We have no set age limits or skill levels, we just recommend that riders have some experience riding on dirt before coming out, so their first ride with us is FUN not scary.

    WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

    • For your first ride of season, a signed waiver form available here.
    • A helmet, a bike with pedals(no strider bikes or training wheels, please), a full water bottle, and an awesome attitude! While bikes with gears are recommended, we have plenty of little ones who start out on BMX bikes. These riders will be placed in the beginner group where they will face limited uphills for to minimize the pushing and maximize the smiles.

    OTHER QUESTIONS:
