Rosemaling Class

Sons of Norway Kringen Lodge 4-025Fargo, ND
Saturday, Apr 11 from 9 am to 2 pm
Overview

RRVWC club member Alan Pearson will be teaching rosemaling in the Telemark style.

Telemark Style Rosemaling with Alan Pearson

Discover the beauty and history of traditional Norwegian decorative painting in this Telemark-style rosemaling class with instructor Alan Pearson. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn the flowing forms, elegant scrollwork, and vibrant color blending that define the classic Telemark style—one of the most expressive and recognizable forms of rosemaling.

Alan will guide participants step-by-step through the process of creating a traditional Telemark design, demonstrating brush techniques, paint mixing, shading, and the characteristic “C” and “S” strokes that bring the patterns to life. Students will also learn about the cultural roots of rosemaling in rural Norway.

This class is suitable for beginners as well as painters with some experience who want to refine their rosemaling technique. By the end of the session, participants will complete a painted project and gain the foundational skills needed to continue exploring rosemaling.

Come enjoy a creative, relaxing experience while connecting with a rich Scandinavian folk art tradition. All are welcome! 🎨

Class cost is $35 (club member) or $40 (non-member). ALL supplies needed will be provided at NO additional cost. The class starts at 9:00. At 10:30 we will pause for a club meeting followed by a lunch break. There are no food options on site so it is suggested to bring a “brown bag lunch” if desired.
