Join us on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 11am – 12 for a tour of Root Down Farm in Pescadero! Farm owner Dede Boise will guide us through the processes they utilize to humanely raise their animals for meat consumption.

This is a fundraiser for the newly formed Bay Area Ranchers Co-op with proceeds going towards their purchase of a mobile meat processing facility to serve small to midsize ranchers in the Bay Area.

Root Down Farm is a female owned, pasture-based poultry and pig farm located in beautiful Pescadero where they raise chickens, ducks, pigs and turkeys. They work hard to humanely raise the healthiest animals possible, while working within the ecosystem to responsibly steward the land and improve soil health. Their animals are free to roam pastures, are fed a nutrient dense diet of organic / non-GMO grain. They are never given hormones or antibiotics and you can taste the difference immediately from conventionally raised meat.

Our current industrial meat system is unsustainable and in dire need of being restructured to serve the populations they are meant to feed. We will be talking about how the meat industry is regulated and what we are doing to transition towards more humane, healthy and sustainable measures.

This outdoor, small group tour is for 12 – 15 people total. Wearing masks and social distance guidelines in place at the time of the tour will be followed.
