Arachne Theater's fourth annual Summer Season is now a festival - "From The Tree" - and we welcome you to the free outdoor showing of our second play, William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." Arguably Shakespeare’s most enduring classic, "Romeo and Juliet" is a story of love, loss, and the failings of generations, both young and old. In this queer forward retelling, we put the focus on not just one romance shattered by generational conflict, but three.
First Come, First Served Seating: Limited park bench seating; please bring your own chairs/blankets to sit on! The ground is gravel, so please consider using thicker/multiple blankets if sitting on the ground.
Food and libations are recommended! We welcome picnic-style enjoyment of our play. Please be aware that the NYC Parks Department prohibits the consumption of alcohol in parks.
Safety Expectations: Please do not attend this event if you feel sick, or have had a positive COVID test less than 7 days previous to the event.
Accessibility: Summit Rock is accessible by wheelchair. Our actors are not mic'd and may at times be less audible due to surrounding sound.
Content Guidance: Some sexual references and jokes. Please use your best judgement when bringing children.
