Skaters know the city in a way no one else does. But are we being heard?

On June 6th, 6 pm to 7 pm we’re hosting a community consultation next to our skateable sulptures outside The Box on Tavistock Place to get real about skateboarding’s place in Plymouth. We’re bringing together skaters, decision-makers, and local communities to talk about:

💬 Where we can and can’t skate—and why that needs to change

🏙️ How skateboarding can fit into Plymouth’s public space planning

🎤 Stories from the skate community

This is about making real change. If you’ve got thoughts on Plymouth’s skate scene—bring them!

Born out of conversations in the PRIMEdesign group (tag), we are creating something that brings skaters together - to skate, of course, but also to be part of the bigger picture. Civic Space is about gathering skaters to have a voice as the city centre is being reshaped in ways that exclude skaters. We want to change perceptions of skateboarding by holding progressive conversations about the design of public spaces, and amplify skating’s rich contribution to Plymouth’s cultural scene.
