Rock The Dragon 2024

Rock the Dragon is the annual spring meeting of Honda S2000 owners at the world-famous Tail of the Dragon. No worries if you don't have an S2000. Car and driving enthusiasts of all makes and models are invited!

The event is free to attend, but we do ask that you sign up here to help us plan and so we can keep you up to date on the schedule. The itinerary will be available closer to the event. We also recommend that you visit the Dragon Events section of the forums on S2ki.com. There you will find active threads with updated information on different drives, events, and pinned information to help you plan your trip!

We would also encourage you to join the Performance Car Syndicate group on Facebook. The official drive sign-ups will be on the forum, but the Facebook group serves as a great place to discuss, post pictures, find some event info, and generally keep in touch.

Event shirts and magnets will be available to display your enthusiasm to your friends! We will post more information about the design and how to purchase on S2Ki.com as the event draws closer.

*Disclaimer: The Dragon (US129) is scheduled to be repaved around the date of this event. We don't know if or how much this will affect the event, it is possible that we may have to change course and forgo the Rollout, but we won't know untill we get closer to the event. Please keep up with current event announcements for schedule changes. This will most likely affect daytime travel across the Dragon but there is always night drives and many other roads to explore.

Most people will arrive on Thursday, but some of us who can't seem to get enough will arrive earlier. Once you've decided you're ready for the best weekend you've had in a long time, call 800-849-2258 to reach Fontana and reserve your room. Tell them you're there for Rock the Dragon to receive a discounted rate, which is good for Wednesday through Sunday. Fontana can only hold a set number of rooms for us for a short period of time so be sure to reserve your room as soon as possible.

Cell coverage is spotty at best in the mountains; therefore, we use 2-way radios to communicate. If you need help choosing a radio, plenty of information can be found in the Dragon Events section of the forums on S2ki.com. We keep them set to Channel 4.0

Thursday - April 25, 2024

Afternoon: Most people will arrive this day. There is usually a scheduled drive to meet the group from OKI area in Maryville, TN with a stop for dinner in Gatlinburg, TN. If you would like to join this drive make sure you sign up on S2Ki.com so we have on the reservation list for dinner.

Friday - April 26, 2024

8 am: Safety meeting in front of the Wildwood Grill followed by an introductory drive across the dragon. If you've never attended before, we ask that you join this drive to learn how to enjoy the mountains safely and learn proper mountain driving etiquette.

9:45: Line up in front of the Wildwood Grill for a group drive to Franklin, NC and back. We'll have lunch at a fantastic Italian restaurant called Cafe' Rel. Cafe' Rel only accepts cash, so plan accordingly. Expect to get back to Fontana around 4-5 pm.

Evening: Casual gathering at the Wildwood Grill in Fontana. If you're looking to wind down and hang out with your fellow drivers, this is a great night to do so!

Saturday - April 27, 2024

8:30 am: Start lining up for the big rollout. Hang out and talk with friends while we get everone organized for the Rollout.

9:30 am: Driver's meeting

9:45 am: Rollout begins. This is where everyone at the event parades across the dragon in one big group. This is something you'll want to be a part of.

10:30 am: Group photo! The time may not be exact, but this is also something you'll want to be a part of. The best way to ensure you don't miss it is participate in the rollout! The location varies based on the numbers but it's always somewhere on the TN side of the Dragon.

After the photo: Groups will usually head in different directions with one goal in mind. Lunch! There will be at least one organized drive headed to Tellico Grains. After lunch, that group will cruise a mile in the air across the Cherohala Skyway with some amazing views!

6:30 pm: Join us Saturday evening for dinner in the Green Room just off the lobby at Fontana. This is a catered dinner and you must purchase your ticket in advance. This has not yet been organized but once the details are set you will be prompted to submit your payment. This dinner is a great time with great food and usually lots of story telling, banter and goodbyes for those that are planning to head out early.

Sunday - April 28, 2024

Sadly, our time is up and check-out is at 11am. You're more than welcome to keep slaying the dragon or exploring the area. Make sure to look out for pictures and posts on S2Ki.com to stay connected with everone and make plans for the Next Event!
