WNY STEM Hubmobilizes Western New Yorkers to advance STEM learning and careers in support of our region and its economic vitality.WNY STEMHub is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization across the 5 counties of Western New York.  It is an initiative of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, the UB Center for Integrated Global Biomedical Sciences and the Empire State STEM Learning Network.  It supports a Southern Tier STEM Satellite Center at St. Bonaventure University.  It is recognized internationally as an Ecosystem of the STEM Funders Network and as a Regional Partner of Code.org. WNY STEM Hub

Robots are everywhere! From our workplace to our living rooms, something robotic or automated is part of our every day life. This month's themed program examines some emerging applications for robotics, powered by computer science. Participating on the program will be:
Paul Tanis, Manufacturing Engineering Manager at General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant, who will review how robotics are part of the manufacturing process. We're grateful to GM for supporting WNY STEM Hub's Girls Coding Project in 2017 and coming up this summer;
Matt Malloy, Director of Advanced Manufacturing for BAK USA, who was recently featured in an article on the Robotic Industries Association website;
Gregg Mojica, CEO of Clovis and a "serial entrepreneur" who created a robotic butler used in some 5-star hotels. He also supported the first group of learners in WNY STEM Hub's Girls Coding Project when they developed a Childcare Resource app; and
Glen Pearson, Regional Director for FIRST robotics will tell us how the next-gen workforce is inspired by robot building and competing today. WNY STEM Hub was the proud recipient of a grant from the Argosy Foundation that supported the start-up of 42 rookie teams in WNY this year.
There are several spring STEM events about to happen, too, so come prepared to share and listen. Particularly, Kathleen Murphy will tells us about the Women in STEM Cooperative Summit happening on April 18.
Please note: GM requires all guests to view a safety video. We will show this in our meeting space at the very start of our agenda, straight up at 9am. Also footwear is restricted to heel height 2-inches or lower.
Also, if you drive a GM vehicle, you may park in the lots adjacent to the plant entrance. If you drive a non-GM vehicle, you must park in designated lots. Please follow the signage or view the parking map. Carpooling with someone who drives a GM vehicle is encouraged.
