Yes, the involvement of a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult will help ensure a fun and safe environment. Plus, as an informed parent/adult you will be able to better support their interest and future activities.

We don't know anything about robotics or programming, should we attend?

Yes, this is an introductory workshop.

Question 3

We have been involved with robotics competitions in elementary and middle school, should we attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we need participants with different levels of skills.  People with some experience can help those who have no experience. Plus, you will build a more advanced robot than the other participants.

What types of Robotics Kits do you use?

We use VEX Robotics GO, IQ, and V5 kits in our workshops.

Question 5

Are your workshop facilitators trained and vetted?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the facilitator of your workshop will be a VEX Certified Educator and will have passed a Background Check.

Question 6

Does this workshop meet the requirements of the Scouts BSA Robotics Merit Badge?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but you need to coordinate with your Scoutmaster for a blue card.  We also recommend printing and using the merit badge workbook as your engineering notebook. Requirement #7 is a prerequisite.

Will this workshop help my 4th-8th Grader make their school's robotics team?

Each school and organization has its own selection process and criteria for joining their robotics team(s).  But, a little knowledge can go a long way when it comes to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

What programming language do you use to code the robots?

Accepted Answer

We use Amazon Kindle Fire HD Tablets and VEXCode,  a block based programming language that is easy to learn and use.  Depending upon the kit being used Python and  C+ languages are also available, but discouraged for introduction workshops.

Question 9

What Robotics kit to you recommend I purchase for my 4th - 8th grader?

How do I start my own VEX Robotics Competition Team?
