About this event

Over time, our painting process can become predictable. Same paper. Same brushes. Same techniques. This workshop will shake up your routine, and help you make creative strides by experimenting and seeing your work in new ways! If you are a realist, this is an ideal way to loosen up and add some spice to your painting process. Working small (8x10-ish) we'll create mini-masterpieces on a variety of surfaces — from masa paper to tinted paper to Aquabord™ and more. We’ll experiment with grounds, stencils and other tools that can add new dimension to your work.

Over our 3 days, you’ll have time to create a number of finished pieces that can be framed as-is or used as springboards for future paintings. Students need to bring their usual painting supplies and come prepared for a fun, creative, hands-on 3 days. A list of suggested painting supplies will be provided at registration. Robin believes ample painting time is key to learning in a workshop. She continually circulates and devotes as much time as possible to each student. Robin will provide images for certain exercises, but in general, students will work from their own photos. Robin is a seasoned watercolor instructor and incorporates classic and experimental watercolor techniques in her demos. Her explanation of technique, design, and value make for a well-rounded workshop experience. For the past 15 years she has taught throughout the US and has led annual workshops overseas.
