For Ages 18+ – The Risograph is an automated duplicator from Japan that combines the vibrant spot colors of silkscreen and the speedy mass production of offset lithography. The machine has gained notoriety in small and independent press culture and is known for its beautiful, saturated, layered color printing capabilities.
This 10-week class will introduce students to what Risography printing is and how it works. Students will learn to all about the basics of risograph printing and create prints using collaging, drawing and other analog techniques. Students will also have access to a communal computer lab with access to Adobe Photoshop, to create and print designs for the Riso digitally as well. Students will get hands-on with the machine and learn to independently operate, troubleshoot, and register their designs.

Come learn to print posters, zines, one of a kind prints, and much more as you experiment with color and layering, and explore the aesthetic possibilities of the art form. Get comfortable using this magical machine that is so loved by the community of lovers of comics, graphic novels, graphic designers, zinesters, and more! Recommended supply lists will be reviewed and distributed in the first class meeting, although many supplies will also be provided.
