Ring Making Class

The Staten Island MakerSpace is a non-profit, community workspace for makers, builders, tinkerers, hardware developers, hobbyists, artists, entrepreneurs, and anyone with a curious mind who wants to make something. It offers tools, equipment, resources, workshops, and 6000 sq ft of space for you to make your ideas come to life.The goal is to create a community of makers and foster an environment of entrepreneurial spirit and invention, by providing equipment and space to a membership that includes skilled craftspeople as well as weekend hobbyists.Members are artists, craftspeople, engineers, makers, creators, and thinkers that work together to collect tools and resources for members who might not otherwise afford, store, or use them individually. These resources are used to encourage our members to develop and start small businesses in our community and to encourage collaboration and experimentation across disciplines.Memberships are available at a variety of levels. Day passes and short term project rental space are also available.

<P>Metalsmithing and jewelry making are thousand year old traditions that will be passed down to you in this class. Learn and get hands-on experience making a unique sterling silver ring. Create your own ring from start to finish while you learn how to drill, texture, cut, stamp, bend, form, solder, and finish sterling silver. Make one for yourself or as a gift to someone special!</P>
<P>Must be 18 and up. </P>

<P>Allie Stambaugh has been instructing classes at NY Designs, TechShop, and with the Brooklyn Metal Partnership and has recently joined the wonderful team at Staten Island Makerspace. Previously she has been a welder, fabricator, and artist. Her work in the arts goes back to art school where she majored in Jewelry Design and Sculpture. During her recent work with makerspaces all over the city, she has also had the opportunity to teach more technologically based classes such as CNC Routing and Laser Cutting.</P>
