Riley Burke
presents an Album Release Show for her debut record Reconfiguration

Riley Burke is a NYC-based artist who resonates with boomers more than fellow millennials. Her voice and songwriting remind people of Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile and Norah Jones. She has a knack for making people laugh or cry. Raised by writer-editor parents in South Florida where she grew up listening to Springsteen, playing basketball, and improvising on violin in her English teacher’s rock band, Burke views storytelling as intrinsic to the human experience.

Her song I Know How These Things Go was recently selected for the Songwriters Night at The Bitter End hosted by the SCL, SGA and NY Songwriters Collective. (This is the closing song of her album Reconfiguration.) Burke has also written music for the SNY television network, and she scored Hillia Aho’s film In Passing, which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Festival.

Album Release Show – Mainly written, arranged, and recorded while earning her Master’s degree in Film Scoring from NYU, Reconfiguration is her debut solo release following her work as a member of the jazz-folk rock band Burke & Krowe.

Reconfiguration is a 13-song album that addresses light-hearted topics like generational trauma, emotions mapping onto queer bodies, illness, bound and untethered states, and female power. (She is Irish after all.) The record, which features the Budapest String Orchestra and Irish tap dancing, is currently living its second life as Burke develops a solo show based on the story/music. (Stay tuned, folks!)

Opener Jess Elgene – Named a “Creator to Watch” by the New York Comedy Festival, Jess Elgene’s solo show, Less of a Man, features standup, characters, and original music, and is an official selection of the Knockouts Women's Comedy Festival. Elgene is a company member at Second City NY, Upright Citizen’s Brigade, Asylum NYC, and Brooklyn Comedy Collective. She wrote and starred in the short film Chicken Crossing, an official selection of the Fort Worth Bizarre Film Festival. Elgene hosts an annual variety show benefit called Texas Pride: Everything’s Gayer in Texas, in support of the Transgender Education Network of Texas. She holds a BFA in Acting from TCU and is represented by Ursula Wiedmann Models.
